These Vegetarian Stuffed Cabbage Rolls are a flavorful and healthy twist on a classic dish. Filled with a savory mixture of rice, lentils, and spices, and topped with a tangy tomato sauce, these cabbage rolls are sure to become a new family favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 cup cooked lentils
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can tomato sauce

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the leaves from the cabbage and blanch them in the boiling water for 2-3 minutes, until softened. Remove and set aside.
  3. In a pan, sauté the onion and garlic until softened. Add the cooked rice, lentils, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Place a spoonful of the rice and lentil mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll up, tucking in the sides as you go. Place the rolls seam-side down in a baking dish.
  5. Pour the tomato sauce over the cabbage rolls and cover the dish with foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until the sauce is bubbly and the cabbage rolls are heated through.
