Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread (ciabatta or sourdough)
  • 8 slices of deli-sliced ham
  • 1 pear, thinly sliced
  • 8 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Directions

  1. Preheat a panini press or a grill pan over medium heat.
  2. Spread Dijon mustard on one side of each slice of bread. Spread mayonnaise on the other side of each slice.
  3. Layer a slice of ham, a few slices of pear, and a slice of Swiss cheese on top of the mustard side of four slices of bread. Top with the remaining bread slices, mayonnaise side down.
  4. Spread the outside of each sandwich with softened butter.
  5. Place the sandwiches in the preheated panini press or grill pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove the sandwiches from the panini press or grill pan and let them cool for a minute before slicing.
