This grilled beer can chicken recipe is a classic American barbecue dish that results in tender, juicy chicken with a crispy skin. The beer infuses the chicken with added moisture and flavor while it cooks on the grill. Perfect for a summer cookout or game day feast!
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken
- 1 can of beer
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp BBQ rub seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Preheat the grill to medium heat.
- Open the can of beer and take a few sips to make room for the chicken.
- Season the chicken inside and out with olive oil, BBQ rub seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Insert the beer can into the cavity of the chicken so it stands upright with the legs down and the wings up.
- Place the chicken on the grill, using the beer can to support it. Close the lid and cook for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Carefully remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving and serving.
