These Rosy Refrigerator Rolls are the perfect addition to any meal. Made with simple, everyday ingredients, these rolls are soft, light, and slightly tangy. The dough is mixed and shaped ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator, allowing you to have freshly baked rolls whenever you desire. Serve these rosy rolls warm with butter and jam for a delightful treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm water
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • Additional flour for shaping
  • Additional melted butter for brushing

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, milk, melted butter, and eggs to the flour mixture. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add the remaining flour, ½ cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  7. When ready to bake, remove the dough from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Punch down the dough and divide it into 24 equal pieces.
  10. Shape each piece into a smooth ball and place them in greased baking pans or on a lined baking sheet, leaving a small gap between each roll.
  11. Brush the rolls with melted butter and cover them with a clean kitchen towel. Let them rise in a warm place for 30-45 minutes or until doubled in size.
  12. Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  13. Remove from the oven and brush the tops with additional melted butter for a glossy finish.
  14. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with butter and jam.
