- 3 pounds boneless pork shoulder
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 8 hamburger buns
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- In a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot, heat some oil over medium-high heat.
- Place the pork shoulder in the pot and sear it on all sides until browned.
- Remove the pork shoulder from the pot and set it aside.
- In the same pot, add the sliced onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion turns translucent.
- Add the brown sugar, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Stir until well combined.
- Return the pork shoulder to the pot and pour in enough water to cover the meat by about half an inch.
