Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 8 hamburger buns

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot, heat some oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Place the pork shoulder in the pot and sear it on all sides until browned.
  4. Remove the pork shoulder from the pot and set it aside.
  5. In the same pot, add the sliced onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion turns translucent.
  6. Add the brown sugar, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Stir until well combined.
  7. Return the pork shoulder to the pot and pour in enough water to cover the meat by about half an inch.
  8. Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven.
  9. Let the pork cook for approximately 3.5 to 4 hours, or until it is fork-tender.
  10. Once the pork is fully cooked and tender, remove it from the pot.
  11. Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
  12. Transfer the shredded pork to a large bowl and pour in the BBQ sauce. Mix until the pork is evenly coated.
  13. Toast the hamburger buns in a toaster or oven until lightly browned.
  14. Spoon a generous amount of the pulled pork onto the bottom half of each bun.
  15. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve hot.
  16. Enjoy your super easy pulled pork sandwiches!
