Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb fresh tuna, sushi grade
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey
  • 1 small avocado, sliced
  • 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 20 rice crackers
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and honey. Mix well.
  2. Slice the fresh tuna into thin strips and place them in a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the tuna, making sure all the pieces are coated. Allow the tuna to marinate for 15 minutes, flipping the pieces halfway through.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the marinated tuna for about 30 seconds on each side, until it is seared but still pink in the center. Remove from heat.
  4. Place a slice of avocado on each rice cracker. Top with a slice of cucumber and a piece of seared tuna.
  5. Sprinkle the tuna canapes with black sesame seeds and garnish with fresh cilantro.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy!
