- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 box of instant chocolate pudding mix
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of chocolate chips
- Optional toppings: chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or fresh berries
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix well until smooth and pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, prepare the chocolate pudding by combining the instant chocolate pudding mix and milk in a bowl. Whisk for 2 minutes until the pudding thickens. Set aside.
- Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the cooled cake. Make sure to poke the holes all the way to the bottom.
- Pour the prepared chocolate pudding over the cake, making sure to fill the holes. Use a spatula to spread the pudding evenly over the cake surface.
- Place the cake in the refrigerator to chill for at least 30 minutes, allowing the pudding to set.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Spread the whipped cream frosting over the chilled cake, covering the chocolate pudding layer.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top of the cake and garnish with any optional toppings you prefer.
- Return the cake to the refrigerator and let it chill for another 30 minutes to set.
- Once chilled, slice the cake into squares and serve.
