Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 12 muffin cups with paper liners.

In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Beat in the orange juice and extract.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the cranberries.
Divide the batter among the muffin cups. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove cupcakes from oven and let cool completely.
In a small bowl, mix together the confectioners' sugar and orange zest. Sprinkle over cooled cupcakes.
