Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  4. Gradually add in dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Stir in chopped nuts, if desired.
  5. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and place on greased baking sheets. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
