Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and white sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk and strong brewed coffee. Fold in the walnuts. Pour batter into prepared pan.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, walnuts, and melted butter. Sprinkle over the top of the cake batter.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool before serving.
