Wiener Schnitzel is a traditional Austrian dish that has become a favorite all over the world. This recipe features a breaded and fried veal cutlet that is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Serve it with a side of potatoes or a light salad for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 veal cutlets
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Directions

  1. Season the veal cutlets with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in separate shallow dishes.
  3. Dredge each veal cutlet in flour, then dip it in beaten eggs, and coat it with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the breaded veal cutlets and fry for about 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. You may need to fry them in batches depending on the size of your skillet.
  5. Remove the cooked cutlets from the skillet and drain them on paper towels to soak up any excess oil.
  6. Serve the Wiener Schnitzels hot with lemon wedges on the side. Enjoy!
