Ingredients

  • 1 pack of extra-firm tofu, drained and cut into 1/4-inch cubes
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs
  • 3 tablespoons of nutritional yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 cup of unsweetened non-dairy milk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Directions

  1. In a shallow bowl, mix together the flour, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt and pepper.
  2. In another shallow bowl, add the non-dairy milk.
  3. In a third shallow bowl, add the panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Dip each tofu cube in the flour mixture until it is completely coated.
  5. Dip the coated tofu cube into the milk until it is completely coated.
  6. Dip the milk-coated tofu cube into the panko breadcrumbs until it is completely coated.
  7. Repeat this process with all the tofu cubes.
  8. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  9. Add the breaded tofu cubes to the skillet and fry until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  10. Remove from the heat and serve warm.
