Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 6 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a medium bowl, combine flour and butter. Mix with a pastry blender or two knives until it resembles coarse meal.
- Add cold water, a few tablespoons at a time, stirring with a fork until a dough forms.
- Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface until it is an inch larger than a 9-inch pie pan.
- Place dough in the pan, pressing it firmly into the edges. Trim off excess dough and flute edges.
- In a large bowl, combine blackberries, sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg, and vanilla. Mix until blackberries are evenly coated.
- Pour mixture into prepared pie crust.
- Brush top of pie with melted butter.
- Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.
- Cool pie before serving.
