Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter, chilled and cubed
1/4 cup cold water
6 cups fresh blackberries
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon butter, melted
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, combine flour and butter. Mix with a pastry blender or two knives until it resembles coarse meal.
Add cold water, a few tablespoons at a time, stirring with a fork until a dough forms.
Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface until it is an inch larger than a 9-inch pie pan.
Place dough in the pan, pressing it firmly into the edges. Trim off excess dough and flute edges.
In a large bowl, combine blackberries, sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg, and vanilla. Mix until blackberries are evenly coated.
Pour mixture into prepared pie crust.
Brush top of pie with melted butter.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.
Cool pie before serving.
