Ingredients
- 3 cups apples, peeled, cored and diced
- 2 cups pears, peeled, cored and diced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup apple cider
Directions
- In a large saucepan, combine the apples, pears, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, and salt.
- Stir to combine and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the apple cider and cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples and pears are very soft and the mixture is thick.
- Remove the mixture from the heat and let cool to room temperature.
- Transfer to a food processor and process until smooth.
- Transfer to a clean glass jar and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
