Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups cubed white bread
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and celery and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add apples, walnuts, almonds, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add bread cubes and chicken broth and stir until combined. Transfer to a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until lightly browned.
