Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons anise extract
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the eggs and anise extract, and mix until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, and mix until a dough forms.
  5. Form the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  7. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Cut out cookies with desired cookie cutters, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  10. Allow to cool before serving.
