Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8x4 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk, mixing just until incorporated.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
