Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups almond buttercream frosting

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 8 inch round cake pans.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the almond extract. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk; stir until just blended.
  4. Spread the batter evenly between the two prepared pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  5. Allow to cool in the pans for at least 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Frost the cooled cake with almond buttercream frosting.
