Ingredients

  • 12 jalapeno peppers
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash the jalapeno peppers and cut them in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and membranes, then set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Fill each jalapeno half with the cream cheese mixture, using a spoon or piping bag.
  5. Place the filled jalapeno poppers onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  7. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the cream cheese-filled jalapenos, pressing gently to adhere.
  8. Bake the poppers in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and the peppers are tender.
  9. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
  10. Serve the baked cream cheese jalapeno poppers hot as an appetizer or snack.

Interesting Facts

  • Jalapeno peppers get their heat from a compound called capsaicin, which is found in the seeds and membranes.
  • Cream cheese is a versatile ingredient that adds a creamy and rich flavor to dishes.
  • Baking the poppers instead of deep-frying them makes them a healthier alternative without compromising on taste.
