Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Place brisket in the skillet and cook until browned, about 5 minutes per side.
Remove brisket from the skillet and set aside. Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, red wine, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper. Return brisket to the skillet and spoon the sauce over it.
Cover the skillet with a lid or foil and bake in the preheated oven for 3 hours.
Remove the lid and bake for an additional 20 minutes. Slice brisket and serve with the sauce.
