Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda

Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and applesauce.
- Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just blended. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool before serving.
