Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup Crisco shortening
  • 1/4 cup lard
  • 3 tablespoons cold water

Directions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the flour and salt.
  2. Add the Crisco and lard and blend with a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  3. Add the cold water one tablespoon at a time, stirring until the dough holds together.
  4. Gather the dough into a ball and flatten into a disk. Wrap the disk in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes before rolling out.
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and place in a 9-inch pie plate. Crimp the edges, prick the bottom with a fork, and bake as directed in your recipe.
