Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb. beef, cubed
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh dill, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh chives, chopped
  • 2 large dried limes, seeded and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups water

Directions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the onions and garlic and sauté until the onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the beef and cook until it is lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the parsley, cilantro, dill, chives, dried limes, turmeric, pepper and salt. Stir to combine and cook for another 3 minutes.
  4. Add the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve with steamed white rice.
