Ingredients

  • 1 (1-inch) thick steak
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cumin, brown sugar, black pepper, and salt.
  2. Rub the steak with the mixture on both sides.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the steak to the skillet and cook for 3 minutes on each side, or until the steak is cooked to your desired doneness.
  5. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

  • The dry rub can be prepared ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
