This fig pie recipe is the perfect dessert for any occasion. Made with fresh figs and a homemade crust, this pie is bursting with flavor. The sweet and tangy filling pairs perfectly with the flaky crust, making every bite a delight. It's simple to make and will impress your friends and family. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a truly decadent treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh figs, sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 homemade or store-bought pie crust
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced figs, sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice. Mix well until the figs are coated with the sugar mixture.
  3. Roll out the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Trim any excess dough and crimp the edges.
  4. Pour the fig mixture into the pie crust. Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
  5. Roll out the remaining pie dough and cut it into thin strips. Create a lattice pattern on top of the pie by weaving the strips over and under each other.
  6. Brush the lattice top with the beaten egg to give it a glossy finish.
  7. Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  8. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for at least 1 hour before serving.
  9. Slice and serve the fig pie on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delicious dessert.
