Ingredients

  • 2 racks of pork ribs
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Vegetable oil for grilling

Directions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium heat.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Cook over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce has thickened slightly, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch and water together to create a slurry. Add the slurry to the saucepan and stir until the sauce thickens further, about 2 minutes.
  4. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs, if desired. Season the ribs with salt and pepper.
  5. Brush the ribs with the homemade teriyaki sauce on both sides.
  6. Place the ribs on the preheated grill and cook for 1-1.5 hours, or until the meat is tender and pulls away from the bone easily. Flip the ribs occasionally and baste with more teriyaki sauce.
  7. Remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for 10 minutes. Slice the ribs between the bones and serve hot.
  8. Optional: Serve with extra teriyaki sauce on the side for dipping.
  9. Enjoy your delicious pork ribs with homemade teriyaki sauce!
