Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • Red gel food coloring
  • Black gel food coloring
  • White gel food coloring
  • 12 mini candy canes
  • Vanilla buttercream frosting

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with paper liners.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter equally into two bowls. Add red gel food coloring to one bowl and black gel food coloring to the other. Mix until the colors are fully incorporated.
  6. Fill each cupcake liner with a spoonful of red batter, followed by a spoonful of black batter. Swirl gently with a toothpick to create a marbled effect.
  7. Bake the cupcakes for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
  8. While the cupcakes are cooling, prepare the frosting. In a medium bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Beat until light and fluffy.
  9. Divide the frosting into three bowls. Add a few drops of red gel food coloring to one bowl, black gel food coloring to another, and leave the third bowl white. Mix each bowl until the colors are fully incorporated.
  10. Pipe the red frosting onto half of each cupcake, resembling Santa's pants. Pipe the white frosting onto the other half, resembling Santa's boots.
  11. Break the mini candy canes in half and gently press them into the frosting, creating Santa's legs.
  12. Serve and enjoy these adorable and delicious Santa Leg Cupcakes!
