Ingredients

  • For the chocolate cake layers:

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

  9. Gradually add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy.

  11. Once the cakes have cooled, level the tops if necessary. Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a generous amount of buttercream on top.
  12. Repeat with the remaining cake layers, stacking them on top of each other with buttercream in between.
