Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract, and stir until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, stirring until just combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few crumbs. Do not overbake.
  6. Remove the brownies from the oven and immediately sprinkle the mini marshmallows on top. Return to the oven for 3-4 minutes, or until the marshmallows are puffed and slightly golden.
  7. While the brownies are cooling, prepare the chocolate icing. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the milk and cocoa powder, and stir until well combined.
  8. Remove the saucepan from the heat and gradually whisk in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and glossy.
  9. Pour the chocolate icing over the marshmallow-topped brownies, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  10. If desired, sprinkle chopped pecans on top for added crunch and flavor.
  11. Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
