Directions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, chopped nuts, and sugar.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, and melted butter until combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium-high heat and grease with butter or cooking spray.
- Drop the batter onto the griddle in 1/4 cup portions. Cook until the edges start to dry and the top of the pancakes begin to bubble, about 2 minutes.
- Flip the pancakes and cook for an additional 2 minutes or until cooked through.
- Serve with butter, syrup, and extra chopped nuts, if desired.
