Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually beat in the sifted ingredients.
  6. Drop teaspoonfuls of dough onto the prepared cookie sheets.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
