Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups warm (110-115 degree) water
- 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes until it is foamy.
- Add the sugar, oil, salt and 2 cups of the flour. Stir until combined.
- Add the remaining 2 1/2 cups of flour and mix until the dough is soft and slightly sticky. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Allow the dough to rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch the dough down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle about 12x18 inches.
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, nuts, corn syrup and vanilla extract. Spread the mixture evenly over the dough.
- Roll up the dough like a jelly roll. Cut the roll into 12 slices and place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the top with the remaining sugar. Cover with a damp cloth and let the rolls rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
