Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 cups cubed white bread
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. In a large bowl, beat eggs with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter.
  3. Stir in bread cubes, raisins, and walnuts (if desired). Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Serve warm.
