- For the cookies:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- For the filling:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

- 3 tablespoons marshmallow cream
- 3 tablespoons milk
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops spring back when lightly touched.
