Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup sourdough starter
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and sourdough starter until combined.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the butter to the flour mixture and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Slowly add the buttermilk mixture to the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Roll the dough out to 1/2 inch thick and cut into circles using a biscuit cutter.
  7. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 425°F for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool before serving.
