Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 4 slices marbled rye bread
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 8 ounces corned beef, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • Dash of Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat the broiler to high.
  2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place 2 slices of bread butter-side down on a baking sheet.
  4. Top each slice of bread with a slice of cheese and a layer of corned beef.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  6. Spread a layer of the sauce on top of the corned beef on each sandwich.
  7. Top the sandwiches with the remaining slices of bread, butter-side up.
  8. Place the sandwiches under the broiler and cook until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  9. Carefully remove the sandwiches from the oven and serve hot.
