Ingredients
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons of chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
- 1 teaspoon of oregano
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
- 1 (15 ounce) can of tomato sauce
- 1 (15 ounce) can of kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup of water
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- In a large pot over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the chili powder, cumin, oregano, paprika, cinnamon, allspice, cayenne pepper, and ground cloves. Stir to combine and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the tomato sauce, kidney beans, water, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
