Ingredients

  • 1 cup of dates, pits removed and chopped
  • 1/2 cup of butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually stir into the creamed mixture until combined.
  5. Stir in the dates and walnuts.
  6. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, until lightly golden.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool on baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
