  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • White chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Divide the dough into three equal parts.
  7. Add a few drops of red food coloring to one part of the dough and knead until the color is evenly distributed.
  8. Repeat the previous step with the blue food coloring and another part of the dough.
  9. Leave the third part of the dough uncolored.
  10. Take a small amount of each colored dough and roll them into 1-inch balls.
  11. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges.
  13. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.
  14. Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
  15. Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and melted.
  16. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the cooled cookies to create a patriotic design.
  17. Allow the chocolate to set before serving.
